Sail Division

Our R/C Sail Division focuses on the art of competitive sailing. Members race model yachts expertly designed to harness wind power and glide gracefully across the water.

Our weekly sail schedule includes races on Wednesdays and Saturdays at Mission Bay. It’s a great time to learn, compete, and connect with fellow enthusiasts. Each year, the Sail Division hosts dozens of races & regattas for the most popular classes in our area.

Casual Sailing Days

Our weekly sail schedule offers casual sailing and racing on Wednesdays and Saturdays when no official events are planned. Beginners are welcome, and experienced sailors gladly share their expertise.

Points Races

Point Races are held monthly over two weekends: one Saturday for DF95 and IOM classes, and another for ODOM and Soling 50s. Skippers compete for the top spot by year’s end, offering a great chance to learn, race, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Regional Regattas

Most regional regattas are one- to two-day events, attracting skippers from across the country. We host both regional and national regattas for classes like DF95, IOM, ODOM, Marblehead, and Soling 50.

Race Week

Race Week is the San Diego Argonauts’ signature event, held every three years (e.g., 2015, 2018, 2021, 2024,…). Spanning 10–15 days in August, it’s one of the West Coast’s most popular R/C sailing events, featuring regattas for classes such as DF95, IOM, ODOM, Marblehead, Santa Barbara, VO70, and Soling 50.

Free Sailing

The San Diego Argonauts celebrate the art of Free Sailing, where boats navigate the pond without remote control. On most Tuesday mornings, members gather to sail their Free Sailing boats, sharing techniques and enjoying the elegance of this traditional practice. Visitors are welcome to watch or join the fun!
