Inland Nautical Society Spring 2015 Regatta

The scale boat folks in Riverside, CA held an incredible regatta at Lake Evans in Fairmount Park.  This featured sailing races as well as a sail and scale boat navigation course.  These are a must attend event for RC model boaters in Southern California, Los Angeles, and San Diego.  Check out the Inland Nautical Society website for updates on future regattas:

Spring Scale Boat Pool Regatta

The Scale Boat Division a great backyard RC small boat regatta this past Saturday!  The mini-boat event featured a navigation course and a pushing/round-up challenge.  Both were a big hit!  Ryan Johnson maintained a lead in both events and took first place overall in the regatta.

Here’s a look at the fun!

Spring Scale Boat Pool Run

20150314--Pool-Party
Mark Weber will be hosting a BBQ for scale RC boaters. This is a backyard BBQ and boat run, so get working on your smallest boats!Saturday, March 14
11:00am – 3:00pmThe pool is 18’x40′, so shorter and highly maneuverable boats would be best for this run. This is also a great opportunity to run your submarines.Events:

1) Navigation Course: We’ll have a mini navigation course and some other challenges setup.

2) Lunch: $10 covers pizza & drinks.  Feel free to bring a snack to share.

3) Raffle: David Alvarez was given a bunch of scale RC boats. He’s been kind enough to redonate them to group members through a raffle. They all need lots of work but should be some interesting projects.

4) Trading Table: Have a boat or something to sell, bring it along for sale or trade.
This will be a kid-friendly event but the pool is not heated and will be too cold for swimming.
As this is at a private residence, please RSVP with David Alvarez (8five8-272-634zero) or Mark Weber (6one9-392-953zero) who will give you the address and directions.

mini Parade of Lights

Here is one of those moments in which human creativity and nature’s beauty converge to create something stunning…and God smiles.

On January 8, 2015, the Scale Boat Division of the San Diego Argonauts had an evening “mini Parade of Lights” on the San Diego Model Yacht Pond.  You’ll see a variety of scale RC model boats & ships.  Some are lit up with their on-board lighting systems, navigation lights, etc.  Others are embellished with Christmas lights, UL wire, and other creative lighting ideas.  Notice the party going on inside the cabin of the “Dread Yacht” and the way Ken Wilson’s flood lights illuminate his trawler’s rigging.  And in case anyone was wondering, that was “Teapot” with its awesome little Christmas tree.  This even was a new favorite, and I look forward to many more.
